Package contains:

- Grain is Australian-grown wheat sterilised at 121°C in an industrial autoclave.
- Prepared in our purpose-built, high quality cleanrooms and laboratory facility.
Hint: We use around 250g of grain spawn per 10L bucket of substrate.

SHIPPING & DELIVERY
Mycelium is extremely sensitive to temperature changes and transport conditions.
And mushroom grain spawn is alive with mushroom mycelium. That’s why we strongly recommend shipping grain spawn via Express Post.
Dispatch
We ship orders Monday to Thursday. We do not dispatch grain spawn on Fridays to avoid it being in transit over weekends due to its heat sensitve nature. Any orders placed on Thursday after 12pm or Friday will be dispatched the following Monday.
Please note this applies to all orders, including Express Post shipments.

Pick up your order from the Little Acre warehouse in Geebung, on Brisbane’s northside. Pick up is free - simply select ‘Pick up’ at checkout.
Pick up is available Monday to Friday, between 8:00am - 3:30pm.

SPECIES DESCRIPTION
Species name: Hericium erinaceus
Gaining popularity for its use as a medicinal mushroom as well as its unique culinary qualities, Lion’s Mane are a fascinating fungi to grow. It has a stemless fruiting body and a fluffy ball-like appearance. The "teeth", which form like icicles all over the fruiting body, elongate as it reaches maturity.
We have several strains of Hericium at Little Acre. This one we've named Pom Pom due to it's tendancy to grow in perfect round fruiting bodies. If you're looking for that perfect snowball Lion's Mane shape then this strain is the one to go for.
As this species has a slower rate of mycelium growth the substrate should be sterilised not pasteurised to avoid contamination. If you can sterilise your fruiting blocks, this species is not too difficult to grow.
Lion's Mane mycelium is whispy and not as bright white as Oyster or other species' mycelium. The grain spawn you receive is colonised and ready to use even though it might not be as visibly white as you may expect.
PREFERRED SUBSTRATE
Lion's Mane prefer hardwood sawdust although some growers have experience great results on pine sawdust as well. Grow this species using eco-logs or Hardwood Fuel Pellets if you can not find sawdust.
For highest yields and heaviest fruit bodies grow on supplemented sawdust or Masters Mix.
INCUBATION
Incubation period: 10 - 14 days (depends on substrate). Block won't go solid white like an Oyster species.
Incubation temperature: Room temperature between 21 - 24°C. Do not let the core substrate temperature exceed 30°C. Ideal core temperature of your incubating fruiting block should not exceed 26°C.
PINNING CONDITIONS
Pinning temperature: 15 - 18°C
Pinning humidity: 90 - 100% relative humidity
FRUITING CONDITIONS
Fruiting temperature:
Range: 16 - 24°C
Ideal: 18 - 21°C
Fruiting humidity: 90% - 95% relative humidity
CO2 concentration: 500 - 1000 ppm
